New longer-life batteries have green appeal

04 November 2011 VANCOUVER B.C. — A new lineup of replacement batteries from Dr. Battery of Richmond, British Columbia, is saving consumers and businesses money and significantly reducing the number of used batteries that end up in landfill sites.

Thanks to ground-breaking battery cell technology developed by its research and development partners, Dr. Battery’s Advance Pro Series, Green Series and Professional Series batteries are providing users of cameras, hand-held game systems, laptops, PDAs, I-pods, and other electronic devices with a power source that has a longer life, is more reliable and performs better in extreme temperatures.

People who use laptop computers, digitial cameras, hand-held games and other electronic devices are happy to report that Dr. Battery’s products:

● can be recharged up to 1,000 times compared to other batteries that often die after less than 400 charges

● cost less than many conventional batteries. During two years of laptop ownership Advanced Pro Series products can save consumers $180 in battery costs

● offer up double or triple the warranty protection provided by most conventional batteries

● outperform other batteries. Advanced Pro Series batteries are reliable in temperatures ranging from -20°C / -4°F to 60°C / 140°F compared to other replacement power packs that often fail in extreme temperatures.

Because Dr. Battery’s batteries can be recharged many more times than other  power packs, a typical laptop user who recharges a battery once a day will purchase one replacement battery every three years compared to three to five conventional replacement batteries.

“Our batteries last longer and that means fewer end up in landfills and that is great news for the environment,” says Joshua Huen, Dr. Battery’s Chief Executive Officer, who in October 2011 won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® award for the Pacific region in the Young Entrepreneur category.

Dr. Battery’s laptop batteries, using technology developed by Leyden Energy Inc. in San Francisco, CA and Boston Power of Westborough, MA, are compatible with more than 1,000 laptop models including Acer, Gateway, Lenovo / IBM, Dell, HP and Toshiba notebook PCs. The company’s product line also includes replacement batteries for camcorders, digital cameras,PDAs, iPods and hand-held games, as well as battery chargers and adapters.

The company's product line consists of:

●Professional Series
Supports up to 95% of brand name laptop models. This series represents a high-quality battery that is much less expensive than an OEM battery – in some cases, half the cost. Other products in this series include notebook adapters, digital camera and camcorder batteries and external chargers, and PDA, iPod and game batteries.

●Green Series
Green Series batteries provide 1000+ recharge cycles and a three-year warranty (industry average is one year). Dr. Battery has partnered with Boston Power to develop this green-at-heart battery that has environmental accreditation. It is also less expensive over the long run: on average, it is replaced once every three years as opposed to once a year. The benefit is two-fold: less expensive over the long run and less electronic waste.

●Advanced Pro Series
Dr. Battery has partnered with Leyden Energy Inc. for this long-lasting, heat enduring lithium ion battery. It offers 800+ recharge cycles and a two-year warranty. Operates from -20° C to 60° C – conventional batteries are designed to work in temperatures ranging from 0° C to 35° C.
