Canadian sports official attends Cuba's Terry Fox Run
Will tour anti-doping labs and other key sports facilities

HAVANA — The president of Canada's Olympic Committee, Michael Chambers, arrived here Wednesday to attend Cuba’s Terry Fox Run scheduled for March 15.

During his stay, Chambers is expected to fulfill a tight work agenda that included a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Jose Ramon Fernandez, and visits to several important sports facilities in  Havana — among them were the Anti-doping Labs and the Centre of High-performance Athletes Training Center, both in Havana.

Chambers will also visit National Gymnastics Center and the International School for the training of Physical Education Teachers.

Chambers will be present at the Terry Fox Run, whose main purpose is to collect funds for cancer research, and the Charity Night, when pieces of art donated by Cuban artists will be sold by
auction.

Last year, 2007, the Race, also known as the Marathon for Hope, involved more than two million, which makes it the largest run in the world after that held in Canada.

This year's run will cover 3,000 meters in a circuit that can be covered on foot, wheelchair, bicycle, or roller skates.
