Damage caused to International Space Station

Russia Herald

A solar power panel on the International Space Station has ripped while being tested for an extension to the spacecraft.

The panel operation was being conducted in anticipation of a laboratory planned for the side of the craft.

Astronauts on the station stopped unfurling the panel when they spotted the problem and have sent back photos of the damage for study by NASA engineers.

So far, NASA has not decided on its next move but will probably send astronauts into space to work on the solar panel.
