Happy Halloween

This will be a quick door-opening to our Garden of Ideas. The sun has risen over the yardarm and will soon be setting in the west, the time to greet children at the door thrilled by their costumes and the experience itself. Watchful parents on the sidewalk. The sound of happy children always is heart warming. In my mind’s ear I can still hear one earnest voice approaching my front porch out of the darkness and saying, “Hi Carl. Guess who I am?” It may not sound like much when you read it, but it’s in my store of memories as one of my life’s treasured experiences. As they say in Swahili, Happy Halloween. Take time to glance and read some. See you on True North No Gas Friday.

Looking forward

PS > Though my father was in the navy (I just made the air cadets) I can’t seem to get it straight: does the sun rise or set over the yardarm. I know where to look when the sun sets but I’ll be goshdarned if I know where the yardarm is!
