Historic referendum in Venezuela on Sunday
against background of CIA plot to crush it

At risk of boring you we once again place a special emphasis on developments in Venezuela where a CIA plot to disrupt this Sunday’s constitutional referendum has been exposed. Such shenanigans prompt recollection of an assertion made by revered philosopher A. Frank Mongol that the human race is a lunatic species. Motivated by greed and blind hatred millions of dollars are being spent to unseat a legitimate democratically elected government. Successive elections that have been observed and given a green light by hundreds including a former U.S. president. One of the planks in Sunday’s platform is that a 36-hour week be made law. By whose standard is that outrageous? Another is that there be no limitations on the number of times that one can be elected president in succession. About this there has been a great hue and cry. But think about it. All kinds of countries throughout the world — including Canada for Heaven’s sake — have no limit to the number of times political leaders may be elected in succession

No, it comes down to plunder and in this day and age it’s all about oil — again. The Chavez government has reclaimed its control of its carbon resources. Just like Saudi Arabia did. The Venezuela government repossessed with compensation that most companies involved finally accepted as either fair or all they could get out of negotiations. All the evidence is that Chavez runs an honest government that is spending the revenue from its oil wealth to improve the living conditions of its citizens — health, housing, education, jobs.

Why is the CIA so determined to destroy this democratic process? What evidence does it have that tiny Venezuela is a threat to the United States?
Why does Washington persist in a losing policy that continually disgraces itself in the eyes of the world? Well some of the answers may be found in other pieces in this edition. For others stay tuned.
