Hitchens writes of good news in Iraq
while Petro-Canada seeks Russian gas

Ach-zo! Ve haff to go to Moscow to learn that our days of plenty in natural gas are rapidly coming to an end.  Please see Petro-Canada seeks pact with Gazprom to ship Russian gas to new Quebec plant. In today’s Editor’s Notes I don’t have time to deal with the dirty politics south of the border that smells so much like the character assassinations applied to presidential hopefuls in recent past presidential elections. What a shame to drag such a serious event away from consideration of ideas to the level of cheap gossip. But I’m out of steam so I’ll save my rant for Friday. Meanwhile, I’ve long considered John Edwards a serious contender in the 2008 run for keeper of the White House. Below you’ll find an interesting profile of Edwards. Staying with politics, naturally, we have two pieces on what must be one of the toughest rough-and-tumble arenas in the world — Russia, where else! Christopher Hitchens tells Americans on their Thanksgiving Weekend that they have something to be thankful for — Good news in Iraq. See you on True North’s No Gas Friday. Bur not at the pumps.

Looking forward
