Mike Weir is the first Canadian male to win a professional major golf championship but some argue he’s not the first to win a major. Sandy Somerville of London, Ont. won the U.S. Amateur golf championship in 1932, back when it was considered to be a major. Somerville was also the first golfer to score at hole in one in the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
